Newlywed Targeted for Cruel Wedding-Photo Backlash Says She’s Choosing Joy — and Preparing for Triplets

A newlywed woman who became the target of harsh online harassment after sharing wedding photos says she and her wife are refusing to let strangers define their happiness. Instead, they are focusing on what matters most: their marriage, their home life, and a rapidly growing family.

Lauren Kaye, 31, says she posted images from the couple’s intimate wedding celebration last summer expecting little more than congratulations. What followed was a wave of cruel comments from people she did not know — including mockery, false assumptions, and allegations the couple describes as offensive, baseless, and deeply unsettling.

What Sparked the Attacks

Lauren says the backlash centered on the fact that her wife, Hannah Kaye, 29, has a naturally youthful, boyish appearance — something online critics seized on to make jokes and insinuations about their relationship.

According to Lauren, the comments quickly escalated from ignorant to sinister, including:

  • Claims that Lauren looked like Hannah’s mother
  • Disturbing insinuations that the relationship was “inappropriate” based solely on Hannah’s appearance
  • Cruel jokes framing Hannah as a child during the wedding scene

Lauren calls the messages “madness” and says they reveal more about the people posting them than about the couple themselves.

The Real-Life Moments Hurt More

While the online harassment has been upsetting, Lauren says some of the most painful experiences happen offline, in everyday public spaces.

She describes moments such as:

  • Strangers in stores assuming Hannah is a child
  • People directing conversation to Hannah while treating Lauren as if she were a parent or guardian
  • Public confusion that leaves Hannah feeling constantly judged

For Hannah, the issue is persistent. She says being mistaken for a young boy has become so common that she feels forced to carry identification everywhere, simply to avoid repeated questioning in routine situations.

At times, she admits, the pressure has made her hesitant to go out at all.

Hannah Refuses to “Fix” Herself to Please Strangers

Hannah believes much of the criticism is rooted in appearance policing — the expectation that she should dress or present herself differently to avoid scrutiny.

That, she says, is not happening.

Hannah has stressed that same-sex couples are not new, and that couples with a more masculine-presenting partner should not be treated as suspicious or “confusing” simply because some strangers are uncomfortable.

Her message is direct: she will not hide who she is to satisfy internet critics.

A Fast-Moving Love Story — and a Bigger Family on the Way

Despite the noise, the couple says their relationship has only grown stronger and more certain.

Key milestones in their timeline include:

  1. Met on Tinder roughly two years ago
  2. Got engaged in early 2024
  3. Married months later in a registry office ceremony in Surrey

Lauren says she knew early on that Hannah was the person she wanted to build a life with — and now they are doing exactly that.

In a development that has shifted the conversation in a completely different direction, the couple recently revealed they are expecting triplets.

Lauren is already a mother to two children from a previous relationship. After exploring family-planning options, the couple pursued IVF overseas, and Lauren says she feels grateful to be entering this next chapter with a supportive partner by her side.

“The Best Response Is Living Well”

Rather than retreat from public view, Lauren and Hannah say they are choosing a different response: building their life loudly and confidently.

Their focus now is on:

  • Preparing for three new babies
  • Protecting their peace and mental wellbeing
  • Staying grounded in the reality of their relationship — not strangers’ assumptions

While trolls continue to comment, the couple’s stance is unchanged: they are too busy building their future to let cruelty take it away.
