SAGINAW, MICHIGAN — While many children spend summer sleeping in and playing, three brothers in Saginaw chose a different path: starting a business.
Marcus, Travell, and Marcelino McBride — aged 12, 10, and 9 — launched their own lawn care company and quickly became a familiar name in their local community.
How the Business Started
- The idea came from Marcus (12), the eldest brother, who wanted to start a lawn care service.
- With support from their mother, Terri Reed, the boys officially launched “3 Amigos Lawncare Service.”
- Terri helped them get off the ground by purchasing:
- Lawn care equipment
- Work clothes and gear
A Fast-Growing Customer Base
Through consistent effort and reliability, the brothers built momentum quickly.
- They now have a strong list of regular customers
- Their mother shared that the business became much busier than expected
- The boys reportedly have around 40 regular customers on their schedule
What Services They Provide
Throughout the summer, the brothers handled a full range of yard work, including:
- Mowing
- Weed whacking
- Edging
- Trimming
- Bagging
- Cleanup
Planning Beyond Summer: Fall and Winter Services
With summer shifting toward fall, the brothers plan to keep the business running year-round by adding seasonal work:
- Leaf clearing
- Snow removal
Learning, Discipline, and Big Goals
Terri said Marcus had no prior lawn care experience, but he had two important things:
- A clear vision
- A strong work ethic
The business is also teaching the boys financial discipline:
- They receive weekly paydays
- Extra earnings go into business accounts
- The brothers have reportedly earned enough to contribute toward an investment property, signaling long-term thinking far beyond their years
A Proud Mom and a Promising Future
Terri expressed strong pride in her sons, describing them as hardworking young boys who are fully committed to building something of their own.
As the seasons change, 3 Amigos Lawncare Service is preparing to expand—proving that determination, family support, and consistent work can turn a simple summer idea into a serious start for the future.
